The decision to apply for this project was driven by the ongoing climate crisis which is affecting countries across the globe. Temperatures are rising notable alongside a sharp rise in sea levels and climate related catastrophes. It was recognised by the consortium that now more than ever we are living an interconnected world where a systemic change is required. To do so, there is a whole of society approach needed with particular attention paid to the role that young people can have in creating innovative approaches to tackling such issues. However, to do so responsibly, the consortium recognised the need to ensure that people not only understand the effects of climate change, but also the cause. It was recognised by the consortium and those involved in the need’s analysis that a holistic approach to tackling climate change is needed and utilising a Global Citizenship Education methodology offered that. BEST as a project united young people and youth workers from across Europe to act on climate change and become advocates for change in their local and national communities.
