We wanted to: Develop comprehensive and accessible educational materials tailored specifically for adult learners in the cultural sector. Foster a deeper understanding of inclusion and its importance for institutions and workplaces within the cultural sector. Create innovative learning modules that can be utilized across various disciplines within the cultural sector, promoting a transdisciplinary approach to education. Equip cultural sector professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to implement inclusionary practices in their work environments. Empower workers to reflect on their own perspectives and biases, encouraging them to see the world through a new lens. Establish a framework for ongoing education and professional development in the cultural sector that emphasizes inclusivity and diversity. Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among professionals from different cultural backgrounds and disciplines. Enhance the overall quality and inclusivity of the cultural sector by ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities to contribute and thrive.
We applied for this project to address two main needs in the field of adult education within the cultural industries. Firstly, there was a lack of material tailored to this sector. Secondly, we recognized the need for a comprehensive approach to inclusion within the cultural sector. To tackle these issues, we developed interdisciplinary learning modules for adult education in the cultural sector. The workforce in this sector consists of individuals from diverse backgrounds with varied skills, united by the common thread of culture. By viewing culture as a shared set of values rather than a collection of distinct industries, we aimed to define and enhance inclusion practices within the sector.
