The general objective of GATE LGBTQIA+ PROJECT is: Prevent and contribute to eradication of Gender-Based Violence in the youth field with a focus on LGBTQIA+ issues. Specific operation project's objectives are: -PROMOTE LGBT+ INCLUSIVE EDUCATION, BY DEVELOPING A TRANSVERSAL AND SPECIFIC METHODOLOGY FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN GENDER DIVERSITY and LGBT+ ISSUES -TRANSFORM YOUTH ORGANISATIONS TOWARDS NON-PATRIARCHAL PRACTICES in relation to LGBT+ issues -ENGAGE YOUTH AS ACTIVE AGENTS FOR GENDER EQUALITY
In recent years, the partners Xena and Altekio have collaborated on an Erasmus+-funded project that focused on Gender and Youth, called GATE PROCESS. It has been a remarkable project in which we have learnt a lot in regards to gender dynamics and youth: the achievements of the previous project have inspired us to undertake a new proposal in order to work on a specific omponent that we had not worked on previously, and which is today so prevalent in the youth field: LGBTQIA+ experiences. The purpose of this project is to advance GENDER EQUALITY, with a focus on preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) against LGBTQIA+ people. The initiative aims to support the cultural and social transformation necessary to acknowledge gender diversity on two levels: 1) ORGANIZATIONAL level: Collaborating with institutions and organizations associated with youth to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ and GBV issues. 2) YOUTH level: to equip and empower young people to be ACTIVE CHANGEMAKERS in their societies and organisations to enabling them to speak up about their own needs and demands on gender problems, particularly those pertaining to LGBTQIA+ concerns.
