Objectives

In implementing the project "Youth Against Disinformation," the aim was to equip young people with the necessary skills and awareness to navigate the complex landscape of media and information. As digital platforms increasingly become the primary sources of information, there was a growing concern among our young participants about distinguishing fact from fiction. This challenge was amplified by the rapid spread of disinformation, which not only jeopardizes personal discernment but also poses significant threats to democratic processes and societal cohesion. The objectives of the project were multi-faceted. Firstly, we aimed to enhance critical thinking and media literacy among the participants, empowering them to critically evaluate the information they encounter on various media platforms. Secondly, the project was designed to foster an understanding of the implications of disinformation and to cultivate skills in verifying facts and debunking falsehoods. Additionally, by promoting the values of the European Union and emphasizing the importance of a violence-free world, the project sought to strengthen the participants' commitment to upholding democratic values and participating actively in their communities. Throughout the project's activities, which included interactive workshops, expert sessions, and collaborative projects, participants developed not only a deeper understanding of the issues at hand but also practical skills that would aid them in becoming informed citizens and proactive members of society. This initiative was particularly timely and crucial, given the backdrop of increasing digital media consumption and the proliferation of fake news.
