The project "Art Without Borders" aimed to achieve several objectives by utilizing art as a tool for fostering intercultural dialogue and mutual respect. The European Union's foundational principle of respect for diversity, along with the need to embrace and appreciate various religious, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic identities, served as the motivation behind the project. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of equity, inclusion, and solidarity. It emphasized the need for trust among individuals and communities, advocating for support and solidarity rather than withdrawal and self-interest. To prevent discrimination, social exclusion, and the resulting violence, tolerance and solidarity towards other cultures needed to be nurtured. Recognizing that racism and xenophobia are often driven by fear and ignorance, the project aimed to combat these attitudes and behaviors through the expression of art. Art was viewed as a powerful tool for communication and social change. It allowed people from different cultures and times to connect through images, sounds, and stories, facilitating intercultural interactions without the need for words. The project's theme focused on discrimination, aiming to leverage the unifying power of art to bring people from diverse cultures together. Young participants would engage in various artistic activities as a means of self-expression. Additionally, a community event would be organized, where participants would showcase their cultural heritage through artistic performances, fostering cross-cultural awareness among the local community. Through "Art Without Borders," we created a social environment for young people to explore the transformative power of art, enhance cultural understanding, and combat prejudices, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and tolerant society.
