Main objective of the project was to address the digital transformation through distance training/learning possibilities. Aims were to: 1) raise awareness of digital technologies and transformation; 2) raise awareness of innovative learning/teaching approaches of VE; 3) raise awareness of flexibility of VET opportunities; 4) promote digital skills and competences of sport trainers; 5) create link of doing/learning sports in presence and in distance; 6) promote physical and mental health as well as well-being; 7) promote EU, Erasmus+, VET values. All 14 project activities were focused on these 7 aims and the main objective: 1) Management activity supervised other activities to be linked to all or either of these aims and objective. Transnational and online meetings were a direct support to the management activity. 2) Communication activity ongoing disseminated other activities in strong connection with the project's aims and the objective; 3) Through the remote sport events all seven project aims and the main objective were reached; 4) Multiplier events boosted up the communication and dissemination of the project results and activities covering the same goals as the Communications and dissemination activity.
The project was inspired both by outcomes of restrictions due to the pandemic and by pilot activities done by 2 LSIIDP coaches regarding remote, digitally organized 2 pilot sport events in Cesis. The competitions proved its effect referencing to the feedback of the involved parties - coaches, administration workers and sport club's trainees. The 2 remote events were held in running and cycling gathering 181 participants in total. In this manner, the sport school athletes were able not only to do sports, but also compete either during their scheduled sport practices. This helped to keep up athletes spirit and addressed a need to prevent athletes' dropout from sport, which during the pandemic years had gone to the roof. The situation was global throughout Europe and concerned not only the project partner countries, but other EU Member states and far beyond. This situation demanded a global solution. Even though the pilot experience of LSIIDP was good, other coaches not only from Latvia, but also from the project partner countries - coaches from Lithuania, trainers and teachers from Turkiye and PE educators from Spain, were not familiar with these digital opportunities that could make a great effect and impact on VET sports.
