Teachers can have a conversation and correspond (e.g. email) in English. We want to improve speaking, listening, reading and writing in the English language. We think it's important that teachers gain more confidence in speaking and teaching the English language. Improving our lessons in English and subject integration of English with other subject areas We want to improve our English lessons to students, so that we better prepare them for a future in the fast changing world of the Brainport region. We would like to become skilled in applying Classroom English. We want to be able to offer creative class activities in the English language. We want to improve our didactics with regard to CLIL. Gain insight and inspiration for our English lessons We are curious about English lessons at other primary schools. We want to gain inspiration in the field of design and didactics of English lessons
De Troubadour is a school for primary education. The school is located in the brainport region. A region met many expats and international workers. We see that our student population is changing. More and more children of expats and internationals are being taught at our school. Global citizenship and internationalization are important focuspoints in our education. We see it as part of good education. The parents of international children almost always do not speak Dutch. We see that our teachers are not sufficiently skilled in conducting parent conversations in English and are also insufficiently skilled in giving good English lessons and the integration of English into other subject areas (CLIL). We believe it is important to be able to speak to parents in English, to correspond with parents in English and also to teach children an enormous foundation in the English language, so that they can make themselves understood in English. If we as teachers can speak, read, write and listen English with confidence, we will improve our English lessons to the children at school.
