Objectives

The objective is to develop a Support Module intended for staff and the management level of care organisations. Also that the Module contribute to the awareness that change is needed in the care provision, a paradigm shift from supply-oriented care to demand-oriented support care. Further that the Module can be used for training (future) managers in the care sector and also as an instrument to use in the process of transition

Background

The reason for the application was that care should become more person-centred. To achieve this managers of care organisations need to be aware that the organisation structure, style of management, culture of the organisation and the competences of the employees should be in line. In many situations this is not yet the case. For this reason the Support Module for Management of Care Organisations is developed. The Module addresses those issues. The development from institutionalised care to de-institutionalised care has not led to inclusion of persons with a disability. In fact the de-concentration in smaller care units has often became a reflection of the "old institute". Person-centred care with a focus on Self-Directed-Support is an important priority coming from the Human Rights perspective and in line with the European Strategy and the Commission Notice on Independent Living and Inclusion in the society
