Objectives

We have seen lifelong learning should be among the opportunities for every adult. We developed a program for and by vulnerable mothers. In addition, we demonstrated the impact of Erasmus+ by exchanging best practices across borders and compiling a holistic program that can be easily rolled out to other organisations . Specifically we delivered the following: 1. Development of a high quality training method which contributed to the social and professional empowerment of vulnerable mothers in Romania and the Netherlands, which meets the needs of both target groups. 2. We trained 11 trainees within the organisations to become trainers in the developed methodology. They learned about the use of the method, as well as how to facilitate a successful training and use specific training skills 3. The trainees gained working experience by training 20 vulnerable mothers in the developed methodology. These women received group trainings in empowerment, networking and skills, within a tailored program. 4. CG and NWP now offer sessions of the developed training method, including specific training skills, to other organisations that want to educate and stimulate their volunteers or employees, to be able to better support their target groups.

Background

The partners Netwerkpro (NWP) Caregivers (CG) Romania believe that every woman should have access to life-long learning, no matter what her background or experience is. Everyone can fulfil a valuable role within society. However, this is not self-evident for every woman, especially for vulnerable mothers. Mothers often experience barriers when it comes to entering the labour market, even though many of them are motivated to gain working experience and becoming financially self-reliable. After the pandemic, with a war happening next to the Romanian border and continuous inflation, Europe is in a state of unrest and uncertainty. Women are the backbone of the family and by empowering them, we can empower whole generations. That’s why we want to create opportunities for vulnerable mothers to develop themselves within the opportunities that exist. Supporting vulnerable mothers back to work and empowering them does not only benefit them it also has a positive effect on the next generation. The project will improve the support, training- and facilitating skills of trainers and educators in non-formal adult education, handing them the tools to reach and serve vulnerable target groups.
