Objectives

The youth exchange "Art as Tool for Fighting Online and Offline Hate Speech" addressed various needs and meet several objectives. The first need provided young people with an opportunity to explore the topic of online and offline hate speech, enabling them to recognize hate speech around them and address it. Another need equipped young people with information on where to seek help when facing hate speech and dealing with its consequences. The exchange also supported the development of intercultural understanding among participants, addressing stereotypes and prejudices. It provided young people with an opportunity to meet peers from other countries and learn more about the realities in Europe. Through non-formal education, the exchange enabled participants to get familiar with YouthPass and work on the development of their life learning competencies. The objectives of the exchange increased the competencies (knowledge, skills, attitude) of young people from participating countries, directly involved participants, in the area of online and offline hate speech. It aimed to develop the skills of participants in recognizing and addressing online and offline hate speech and encouraging them to stand up against it. Additionally, the exchange increased participants' creative competencies by using art-based methods and tools supporting young people's direct involvement and competency development. The exchange raised participants' intercultural competencies, making them aware of their own stereotypes and prejudices. It also raised participants' knowledge of the Erasmus+ Programme, non-formal learning, YouthPass, and empowered them to continue being active in the field of international youth work. Another objective was to support the creation of new project ideas, with a special focus on the KA 1, Erasmus+ Programme. The exchange increased awareness of local communities of participating organizations on online and offline hate speech through follow-up activities in the form of interactive presentations prepared and delivered by directly involved participants with the support of group leaders. Lastly, the exchange encouraged young people who would be reached online through a series of videos interviews with the participants of YE to fight online and offline hate speech and to get involved in the Erasmus+ Programme.
