Objectives

Youth 4 Respect was a youth exchange focusing on intercultural dialogue, non-discrimination and equality. Young people from four different countries and four different cultures worked together for 8 days, so getting to know each other and intercultural learning played an important role. The young Croatian, Hungarian and Turkish participants encountered a culture in the host country that was very different from the one in mainland Europe, and they were interested in it. The young participants from the host country and the local community were curious about the experiences of the young people and their sending countries. An intense cultural exchange was thus achieved. The primary objective of our project was to foster equality and combat discrimination among young people. Since prejudice is not innate but can develop over time, it is essential to instill the principles of equality and non-discrimination through both formal and non-formal education. Non-formal education is proved to be particularly important for cultivating key transversal competencies, such as self-reflection, empathy, and mutual respect. We successfully raised awareness about rights among young people, empowering them to identify and confront discrimination. All the original objectives of the project were met, namely: - promote intercultural dialogue, equality and non-discrimination among young people through non-formal education - to raise awareness of human rights among young people, empowering them to recognize and stand up against discrimination - to raise awareness the importance of active participation and citizenship. - to rise solidarity and tolerance - to empower young people to influence local communities - to build and international network of youth (which continue after the project through online social networks) - to support participants skills and competence development.
