Model European Union Netherlands 2022 was primarily intended to provide young people with an informal and non-formal educational experience. By mimicking the decision-making process of the European Union, Model European Union Netherlands 2022 aimed to empower and educate the following generation of active and responsible people. Our initiative was focused on educating a new generation of citizens about the values of the European Union, where the “Connecting EU with Youth” goal has been achieved. Our main objective for the participants of the Model European Union Netherlands 2022 was to develop a strong feeling of community and civic skills through informal and non-formal activities in a safe and welcoming environment. Throughout the event, our main principles were diversity, democratic principles, European culture, and freedom of speech and opinion. We have organised extracurricular events that encourage, foster, and promote young people's participation in Europe's democratic life at the European levels in addition to official education and training. To achieve this, we have organised a Workshop on the Ordinary Legislative Procedure of the European Union and encouraged everyone to attend as a preparation prior to the four day debate event. The Workshop on the Ordinary Legislative Procedure had facilitated the participants with a knowledge base of the topics that are up to be debated, namely the Digital Services Act and the Deforestation-free Products Directive. To put it another way, Model European Union Netherlands strived to create a debating environment free from barriers imposed by culture, language, economics, or society, and given the turnout and quality of the debate, it has successfully achieved this objective. To promote young engagement, our project has provided a number of activities, gatherings, and training sessions. By encouraging communication and discussion between young people and decision-makers, these initiatives aimed to improve young people's active participation in the democratic life of the European Union. As a result, young people will be able to express themselves through the formulation of ideas, initiatives, and suggestions, particularly on issues relating to digital rights, citizenship in Europe, and the EU's response to environmental crises. Furthermore, a key component of our concept is equality for all genders. We believe young women need to understand their rights and to support European ideals like impartiality, equality, and gender equality. In this regard, given the assistance of various European organisations. the goals of the Model European Union Netherlands 2022 project were accomplished as we have managed to secure a balanced representation of all genders to the best of our abilities. Content-wise, the quality of information and constructive debate were some of the most important aspects of our endeavour. The freedom to express innovative ideas and initiatives will be secured by creating a forum for discussion that makes an effort to overcome linguistic, cultural, social, and many other barriers. By empowering young people from underserved places, we also hope to eliminate geographical and financial constraints. Additionally, we have put a lot of effort into making sure that this session has a substantial representation of attendees from Eastern Partnership countries. From prior occurrences, we are aware that many young people in these nations wish to take part in initiatives like this and go to the Netherlands, but are usually prevented from doing so by financial constraints. As a result, we work to encourage inclusive, active participation among all Europeans, both inside and beyond the EU. The main path forward that European youth believe in is participation for the sake of active citizenship, so we are eager to improve community problem-solving techniques by making use of existing and upcoming European legislation in order to provide a legal framework for active citizenship-based solutions. We have worked to broaden the geographic scope of our initiative on a national and international scale by making the application and selection process more transparent, open, and inclusive, particularly for citizens of the European Union who lack timely and effective access to information and education. In this sense, the project seeks to make up for the costs of accommodation and transportation inside the Netherlands during the official conference days of October 26 through October 30. Additionally, our project promoted awareness of the various possibilities available to young people as EU citizens and disseminated knowledge on instruments designed specifically with youth in mind. Our content guide had provided instructions on how to use the European tools to amplify the voice of youth, specifically in this area. The role of the European Commission's public consultations and the ECI in this regard were detailed in the presentations of the opening ceremony.
