Based on the goals of the 2030 Agenda, we aimed to develop ecological competencies among both students and teachers: encouraging them to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and shift their habits towards more environmentally respectful choices, enhancing teachers' ecological skills to integrate this topic beyond just biology lessons. We wanted to incorporate ecological activities and initiatives into the school calendar, which we would continue beyond the project's completion. We aimed to improve the linguistic and communication competencies of teachers and students. For science teachers, this involved enhancing English language skills to enrich their vocabulary and incorporate bilingual elements into their lessons, while students would work on advancing their skills in English and Spanish. We also wanted to develop the methodological competencies of our teachers and encourage innovative actions through creative and modern teaching methods. Through online activities, we aimed to increase digital competencies among both teachers and students. This project was intended to help us open up to other institutions and countries, learn about different educational systems, cultures, and ways of life, and foster respect for diversity.
This project has enabled our school to gradually implement activities aimed at incorporating a European dimension into our educational plans, while also fostering openness among teachers and students to international cooperation. The project was based on work related to several objectives of the 2030 Agenda: combating social inequality and poverty, promoting sustainable consumption, creating sustainable cities, addressing marine and ocean pollution, and supporting sustainable energy. We are working to ensure that our students become citizens aware of the world's contemporary issues, so that in the near future, as adults, they will care for our environment and work toward improving the current situation. The collaboration included both face-to-face meetings and the use of digital tools, contributing to the development of digital and language skills. The Lech Bądkowski Bilingual High School No. X in Gdańsk was established in 2017 as part of the educational reform in Poland. The school offers a 4-year educational cycle following primary school, providing a secondary education that enables students to obtain a high school diploma after passing the final examination. The school offers bilingual classes with English.
