The implementation of the "Check It Out! - fact-checking incubator" project aimed to achieve several key objectives, all of which collectively aimed to support the development of digital competencies among young people and raise awareness about the importance of information verification in the digital age. The main project goals focused on: Educating young people - The project aimed to engage young people in an educational process that allowed them to better understand how misinformation works and what techniques can be used to recognize and combat it. This knowledge was conveyed through a series of training sessions, workshops, and practical activities designed not only to theoretically understand the problem but also to acquire practical fact-checking skills. Developing competencies - Through participation in the project, young people had the opportunity to develop their digital skills, including critical thinking, source analysis, and the use of digital tools to verify data. These skills are crucial in the context of the growing flood of information and the necessity of distinguishing facts from fake news. Strengthening public debate and combating misinformation - One of the project's goals also aimed to strengthen the quality of public debate by educating young people about the role that accurate information plays in a democratic society. By raising awareness about the consequences of misinformation, the project aimed to prepare young people for more informed participation in public debate. Preparation for action - The project not only aimed to educate but also to inspire action. Participants were encouraged to create their own initiatives and projects aimed at further disseminating knowledge about fact-checking among peers and in local communities. With these goals in mind, we aimed to create a space for young people where they could not only acquire knowledge but also share it, creating a network of cooperation and support in the fight against misinformation. By combining theory with practice, the "Check It Out! - fact-checking incubator" aimed not only to equip young people with the tools necessary for critical evaluation of information but also to encourage them to be active participants in society, contributing to the building of a culture based on truth and trust.
