The purpose of the project was to carry out the workshop: „The young go with Boat” including a group of 30 participants from the region of Łódź and 6 from Ukraine, because they were highly interested in active cooperation with local authorities and creating ecological policy of the region, establishing a dialogue between the youth representatives and local authorities in the range of joint ecopolicy in the region of Łódź and introducing others ecological problems of the whole region and cooperation with our Foundation. Every citizen of Łódź breathes in equivalent of smoke from 5.4 cigarettes everyday being outside. Every year due to smog in Łódź die about 1000 people prematurely. The main goal of the project was to carry out the project from 09.2022 to 11.2023 including 30 participants from Łódź, Wieroszów and Wieluń when the knowledge of the youth and region citizens in the range of competences of local authorities was broadened. The project group was familiarazed with rules of creating local regulations and possible initiatives in this field (knowledge growth – 25%), an active citizen approach was shaped among participants who will undertake local initiatives after the project in the local community. In the project we carried out factual lectures in the range of constitutional law, environment protection regulations or political marketing, photographic exhibition in 3 high schools in the region, showing the truth if our region is proecoligical, creating a plan of proecoligical activities for the region. A discussion and a debate with policy-makers took place, planting trees in the region, preparing and submiting proecoligical civil project as part of so-called civil budget in the region of Łódź, Wieluń and Wieruszów. Our partners in the project were 3 high schools from the region of Łódź. The project will increase participation of citizens of the region in creating local ecopolicy, creating and submitting 3 civil proecoligical projects to local authorities which were to engage participants in activities for the region of Łódź. By means of the workshops we shaped legal norms of the participants’ from the region of Łódź. In the future they will be able to make effective actions in shaping local policy or even the national one. Participants were young activists who noticed insufficient engagement of local authorities or the youth in creating policy in the region, including ecology. Participants realize that ecological policy of the rgion has essential importance in development and its proper shaping is to serve the whole local community. If farms producing ecological food in the region are built and more companies and local people take adventage of renewable sources of energy, life will be easier and new perpectives of development (including ecotourism and ecoproduction) may appear. The youth is aware of the new perspectives for the region and during the project broadened their knowledge and competences both in local legislation which is necessary to create ecopolicy in the region actively but also to have a dialogue and negotiations in order to become a rightful partner of local authorities. The youth was also sensitive to current military situation in Ukraine. They realize how this kind of actions degrade natural environment of our neighbour. When the war is over Ukraine will have to face such problems like pollution of the soil and waters. Military actions especially in Donbas led to degradation of biodiversity and the main threat to the environment is uncontrolled flooding some of mines in the regions occupied by prorussian separatists. These kind of operations result in increased level of waters what may lead to pollution of the soil and surface and ground waters dangerous for the whole community. That is why young people from Ukraine who stay in Poland and continue their education in Polish high schools were engaged in the project. They will play the role of leaders of project activities. Thus they were able to learn how to create ecopolicy for the regions and after the war they will support local communities to deal with the environmental effects of the war.
