Objectives

We wanted to show the importance of personal development/competence and commitment to others and we wanted to share that. But also, because we are involved with refugees from Ukraine, we work on a daily basis with young people who have come to Poland, we wanted to give a voice to this part of us to show that our dreams are very similar. In addition, because of the geopolitical situation we find ourselves in, we wanted, in collaboration with INDID, to encourage young people to think critically and analyse information, to give effective tools to counter manipulation and hejt. This was important because we want to live in a friendly world, in a Europe without war and hatred. The concept of the project was based on youth and youth activities for Polish and Ukrainian young people, which equipped participants with key competences, including those to improve their leadership, volunteering, activism and project workshops. The project consisted of 5 main activities: - an organisational meeting of partner organisations, attended by representatives of all organisations, during which we exchanged perspectives on further project actions, agreed in detail on the responsibility for the implementation of individual tasks (initially, partners declared the areas they would deal with in the project by supporting young people - those in which their organisations specialised and using the human and material resources of each). - Media education workshops - took place in all provinces in each location for a minimum of 10 people - a total of 312 participants took part in them - Youth Camp "Camp BE: aware - engaged - critical!" - a 2-day Youth Conference - BE: aware - engaged - critical! - evaluation meeting and the preparation of recommendations - an appeal to decision-makers and stakeholders containing the most important postulates arising after summarising the conclusions of the conference. The activities concerned a group of young people from Poland and Ukraine and stemmed from several aspects. The Youth Club at MDK 2 in Piekary Slaskie was and still is active, and it was the local young people who decided to take matters into their own hands. Thanks to their participation in earlier projects, both local (the Fair Train City Game in Katowice), regional and national (the EU WISE - Erasmus+ project - 7 schools from Poland participated, including 3 from the Silesia region) and international - training, workshops, courses and exchanges - the young people from MDK 2 had developed their competences and the group of youth leaders wanted to implement the above-mentioned activities they had planned together and thus share their ]experience of youth involvement in activities in different areas and also encourage young people all over Poland to learn from their experience. The aim of the project was primarily to: - to show the power of youth energy through presentations within the 4 themes of youth activities during the conference: volunteering, activism, projects and developing passions and talents - to encourage young people to get involved in volunteering, activism on important and topical issues, to showcase personal development including passion as part of future professional development and to encourage participation in projects - demonstrating their educational potential. - to encourage teachers and youth workers to benefit from the experience of young people presenting their speeches during the conference - inspiration - motivation - participation and to pay attention to their needs - to integrate Polish and Ukrainian youth and to plan their own development and joint leadership/volunteer, project or activist activities - CAMP - summer camp for young people - equipping young people with critical thinking skills during media education workshops using the board game 'The Fourth Estate'. - INDID Toruń - preventing disinformation and propaganda, showing the mechanisms of manipulation. - building a network of organisations for supporting young people's participation and involvement, and supporting youth workers in their work with young people - preparing and delivering the youth appeal to stakeholders and decision-makers
