The idea behind our project was to respond to the needs of both Silesian youth and local decision-makers regarding activities that would enable them to meet each other and improve participants' skills regarding their response to real needs and problems. Our project contributed to promoting the celebration of the European Year of Youth ( taking place in 2022), as well as having a reliable discussion on social and civic activism. Among our goals, we also recognized the possibility of influencing the world around us and making the voice of youth heard, as well as: the need for inspired activity in democratic processes and raising awareness of opportunities for civic participation. At the same time, we wanted to relate to the priorities of the European youth dialogue by: creating a platform on which, young people can learn how democratic processes work and how to become an active leader of their community, which responds to the need for greater social involvement of the participants; responding to the needs of young people for credible civic education and creating and stimulating the growth of civil society; to encourage young people to become more active in local community issues in all of our countries, using the example of solving specific problems; to create space for mutual understanding among young people and the formation of lasting friendships; to facilitate a structured dialogue between young people and local government representatives that will lead to critical analysis of political and social issues by young people in the Silesian Voivodeship. Our goals were achieved through the implementation of activities that enabled the meeting of youth and decision-makers, which contributed to the confrontation of the views of the place where we live - Silesia with politicians and experts. We organized 7 youth conferences attended by decision-makers. The events took place in Gliwice, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Bytom, Cieszyn, Siemianowice Śląskie, Mikołów and Katowice. Each was attended by a group of 35 young people (with the exception of Cieszyn - 40 people). The activities fostered the exchange of opinions or the realization of the project results we had assumed. Getting to know the local specifics of different localities in the Silesian Voivodeship was useful for drawing conclusions on how to improve youth policy in our region. The result was the report "Silesian Youth Charter", which is the culmination of our work. Within the framework of the Youth Academy of Local Democracy, we also undertook activities such as - the development of a series of podcasts and webinars, the preparation of a board game, and we carried out research on youth needs. All of our activities contributed to both raising awareness among young residents of the Silesian Voivodeship concerning civic participation, enabled them to gain new knowledge, and participate in discussions with decision-makers.
