The aim of the project was to strengthen civic competences among Polish and Ukrainian youth residing in the Łódź Voivodeship in order to build a civil society together. The project focused on developing specific elements that constitute civic competences, which we referred to as the 3xWIN principle. 1W stands for upbringing – educating young people about civic skills. In this aspect, we focused on teaching them how to express their opinions, conduct debates and argumentation, think critically, and analyse information. 2W stands for values – throughout the project's activities, we promoted values such as solidarity, acceptance, and tolerance. 3W stands for conditions – active participation in social initiatives and volunteering. Young people engaged in discussions with local decision-makers and youth workers about opportunities for social involvement in their communities, what they needed, and what was lacking. We created a space where conditions for the development of youth social activities could emerge within local communities. Both Polish and Ukrainian youth were involved in the project to foster integration, mutual understanding, and the instilling of values such as tolerance, respect, and solidarity. The project also helped Ukrainian youth become familiar with state structures, facilitate social inclusion, and find areas for social engagement. The objectives outlined above were achieved through workshops and debates. At the same time, we also influenced local decision-makers, demonstrating to them the necessity of contributing to the creation of better conditions for youth social engagement.
