Objectives

"Green Corners" was a 2 years bilateral project which has included a set of both European and local activities with the of creating a space for young people where they could explore the multidimensional impact of climate crisis and sustainable development and their stand on the causes, through active participation and a bottom-up, stakeholders collaboration and active approach in two countries: Greece and Poland. We wanted to improve 3 locations in Ioannina and Łódź through the identification of dirty, devastated zones or locations for which we had to study and plan how to reestablish certain green status and eventually refurbish or operate for planting and maintaining the selected places on a long term basis. At the same time, we wanted to enlarge the capacity of our Organisations within the topic and the cooperation with local actors who can truly support our orientation to the sustainable development and climate change. The achievements were proven and the targets reached at their 100%. "Green Corners" wanted to: - develop young people's skills and capabilities connected to community building, project management, event planning, and communication. - enhance of participants' sense of belonging and active citizenship. - make young people familiarise with topics connected to environmental education and action. - implements a series of green interventions with a bottom-up and collaborative approach. - spread the effects and the experiences delivered on an European dimension thanks to the Erasmus+ Programme. Within this project, we aimed to achieve goals in connection with an improved environment and active participation of young people. Specifically, we addressed areas in connection to the EU Youth Goals, the Green Deal, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, using a local bottom-up approach, realistic for being implemented by local Organisations that work with young people and also areas of environmentally friendly development and sustainability, and young people themselves. The lack of green areas in both cities of the participating young people was one of the main needs addressed within this project, in connection to the environmental crisis, and the youth concerns regarding urban environmental issues and lack of safe spaces for youth that are environmentally sustainable.
