Objectives

The main goal of our project perfectly fit the motto of our school: "A person is worth as much as he can give of himself to others." We wanted to promote broadly understood integration, empathy for other people and pro-social attitudes. The implementation of the project was also of great importance for developing linguistic and cultural competences among both students and teachers, and schools developed and strengthened international partnerships.

Background

The world around us provides us with stimuli that have an overwhelming impact on us. Although we hear more and more often about the integration of disabled people, unfortunately it is often just a slogan. Everything that deviates from the so-called "norms" make us anxious, uncertain and even afraid. Integration means respecting human values, and it is expressed in eliminating the division between able-bodied people and people with disabilities and is implemented in mutual contacts. Our integration classes provide optimal conditions for the development of each student, and the implemented project and the sensory gardens that were created as a result of it serve and will serve our community for years. The main purpose of creating sensory gardens was to influence the senses: smell, touch, hearing and taste. Sensory gardens have a relaxing effect on our students and teachers, staying there improves our mental and physical condition and allows us to recharge with positive energy, which is so important for our well-being. Gardens also serve an educational function, even for the youngest children. While creating them, our school community integrated even more, developed creativity and cooperation in creating recycled and zero waste.
