Objectives

The main result of the project is an educational package, which we have titled "Effective communication and customer service adapted to people with special needs". The package is available in three language versions: Polish, English and Portuguese. The package concerns customer service with disabilities in hotels, catering and tourism. We hope that it will be an important tool supporting vocational education for the tourism, catering and hotel industry. It was developed in order to expand the topics of classes in vocational subjects to include issues related to serving people with disabilities and is a "knowledge base" that allows you to prepare future employees to more effectively fulfill the tasks and responsibilities resulting from their profession in such a way as to be able to meet the needs and requirements of the market, which has recently been opening up to the needs of customers with various types of disabilities.

Background

The project was initiated to enhance the quality of vocational education, focusing on developing both soft and professional skills. Key topics covered include effective communication and customer service tailored to individuals with special needs, particularly in the hotel, catering, and tourism sector. Employers seek candidates with well-developed social skills, including the ability to interact with customers with disabilities. While there are various guidelines for hotels, there was a lack of information on integrating soft skills development, such as communication with individuals with disabilities, into vocational education. To address this gap, an educational package was created to facilitate the training of future employees, emphasizing communication principles, especially when engaging with individuals with disabilities.
