Objectives

With the implementation of this project, our goals were: To increase knowledge, engagement, and mobilization of organizations towards Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship through peer learning and exchange of experiences at the European level. To promote internationalization and the establishment of strategic partnerships among partner organizations. To create a Best Practices Guide and Resources that promote capacity development among strategic actors for sustainability, democratic participation, and the transfer of knowledge and experiences across transnational territories.

Background

The project arises from the identified need in both countries to promote engagement and mobilisation around the 2030 Agenda, aligned with guiding documents such as the "National Strategy for Development Education" and the "N.S. for Citizenship Education" in Portugal, and the "2030 Sustainable Development Strategy" and the new education law "LOMLOE" in Spain. The importance of CSOs in promoting initiatives compatible with the formal sector that involve adults, empowering them with knowledge and awareness of global challenges, and fostering the skills and critical thinking necessary to understand and address them, is recognised. The FCL and NS are involved in the NGO Platforms for Development of their countries and regions, creating initiatives to engage communities in Global Citizenship issues, contributing to the implementation of new guidelines that require a more active role from CSOs and local communities as active citizens in global, development, and sustainability issues. With this project, we aimed to identify and systematise Practices and Resources to empower and mobilise strategic actors in adult education and the community at large, for the challenges of environmental, social, and economic sustainability, global and local
