Objectives

Based on the social problem identified and the needs raised, the aim of this project was to: (OG) Encourage youth participation, particularly in issues that directly affect young people and society in general. (SO1) Bring together European youth workers to identify, debate, co-create and test participatory and socially innovative solutions in the field of youth participation (which could be replicated, contributing to innovation in the sector); (SO2) Develop the key competences of young people (especially those with fewer opportunities) for entrepreneurship, ensuring that young people are able to develop and implement their own projects and actions that respond to the problems of youth and society; (SO3) Disseminate and explore the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, so that young people can act in favour of building a more cohesive, just and sustainable society; (SO4) Contribute to the enhancement of the territory, identifying problems, debating answers and presenting solutions to favour the construction of each community and society in general; (SO5) Promote European values.

Background

The world today is marked by a series of problems that affect all citizens, without exception, and which relate to issues such as health, poverty, hunger, gender, education, work, inequalities, the environment, etc. In order to create a global model capable of combating cross-cutting social problems, 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were created. As representatives of the future, young people are naturally at the forefront of this process of building a cohesive, fair and sustainable society. It is clear, therefore, that there is still a long way to go and that multiple efforts need to be made to encourage youth participation for the development of society. PROBLEM Low levels of youth participation in the various spheres of society. NEEDS a) Raise community awareness of existing social problems (in relation to the SDGs); b) Promote the involvement and active participation of citizens in responding to the social problems identified (the responsibility cannot lie solely with the central states); c) Strengthen European cooperation as a response to the social problems identified (instill the idea of GLOCAL).
