Objectives

The PEDITORY project aimed to enhance peace education through digital storytelling, equipping youth workers with innovative non-formal education tools to foster mutual understanding, social inclusion, and conflict resolution among young people. Key objectives: Develop a digital peace education toolkit to help youth workers engage young people in peacebuilding. Train youth workers to implement storytelling-based peace education methods. Create an online Peacemakers Platform for young people to share personal narratives and foster dialogue. Promote European values of inclusion, civic engagement, and intercultural understanding. Encourage critical thinking and media literacy, empowering youth to counter misinformation and stereotypes. Ensure sustainability and scalability by integrating project results into youth work and educational programs across Europe. By achieving these goals, PEDITORY strengthens social cohesion, youth participation, and cross-cultural dialogue, fostering resilient and peaceful communities.

Background

This project was initiated to address the growing need for peace education and conflict resolution among youth, particularly in the context of ongoing global conflicts. The Ukraine-Russia war, migration crises, and rising social tensions highlighted the urgent need for innovative, accessible peace education tools. Key needs addressed: Lack of structured peace education resources for youth workers. Limited use of digital storytelling in fostering intercultural dialogue. Youth disengagement from civic participation due to social divisions. By creating the Peace Education Toolkit and Peacemakers Virtual Platform, the project provided practical, interactive solutions to support youth workers and young people in developing peacebuilding skills and civic engagement.
