Objectives

To respond to the identified needs to improve personal and working skills with the beneficiary parents, we proposed the following objectives: the development of socio-emotional skills for 3 teaching staff (school counselors and/or speech therapists) from the institution, the improvement of digital skills for 3 teaching staff (school counselors and/or speech therapists) and the development of effective communication skills with the parents of 4 teaching staff, to establish support and collaboration relationships with them, between February 2023 and July 2024.

Background

Following the needs analysis carried out within the institution, the following needs were identified: increasing the motivation of employees in the activities carried out with parents, developing parental education programs, improving the digital skills of school counselors, and 61.5% of employees indicated the need for development of socio-emotional skills, while 46.2% felt the need to acquire knowledge and skills in adult education. By implementing this project, by participating in mobility, the participants interacted with people from different cultures, with different experiences, they improved their basic skills, aspects that increased the quality of the services offered to parents, such as their information and counseling, as well as their involvement in strengthening the family-school-community relationship. The parents of the students with whom I carried out activities come from both rural and urban environments, from various social environments, and with different vulnerabilities (low socio-economic status, lack of basic education, divorced parents, single-parent families, foster carers or grandparents with the role of guardian, as well as adoptive parents).
