Objectives

The main objectives of the "Skills for a Greener Future: Adult Literacy for Sustainable Development in the Workspace" project were threefold: Equip adult educators, trainers, and facilitators with the necessary knowledge and skills to promote sustainable development within various workplaces. Facilitate the acquisition and implementation of green skills among adult workers, enabling them to contribute to and thrive in a green economy. Strengthen the capability of participating organizations to deliver effective training and educational services that support green transformations in the workplace. These objectives aimed to create a foundation for continuous learning and adaptation to green practices, ensuring that both individuals and organizations are prepared for sustainable operations and the challenges of future environmental demands.

Background

We applied for the "Skills for a Greener Future: Adult Literacy for Sustainable Development in the Workspace" project to address the urgent need for upskilling and reskilling adults in the context of a greener economy. The primary motivation stemmed from the recognition that businesses and workforces must adapt to more sustainable practices due to increasing environmental challenges and the shift towards a green economy. Our project targeted the development of green skills and literacy among adult educators, trainers, and workers, facilitating their transition to environmentally responsible and resource-efficient work practices. This initiative was crucial for fostering sustainable development, enhancing employability in green sectors, and supporting organizations in managing ecological transitions effectively.
