By implementing this project, we wanted to create something meaningful and lasting as innovative educational tools that could truly help tackle today's urgent environmental challenges. Our aim was not just to educate, but to inspire young people and those who work with them to become active agents of change. We developed a set of educational games focused on pressing environmental hot topics aligning with the priority of environment and climate change. These tools were designed to make learning more engaging and relatable. We also created a non-formal educational program that brought green development strategies and policies to the grassroots level in an accessible, interactive way. Through training courses, we supported youth workers and educators in gaining the skills and confidence to use these tools effectively. We also worked hard to strengthen partnerships among participating organizations, laying the groundwork for at least one future joint green project. Looking back, our efforts resulted in tangible outcomes like 4 educational games, an NFE program and the Earth Competence framework, all developed through collaboration, passion, and a shared commitment to sustainability.
Throughout the project, we aimed to develop the skills and attitudes necessary to reduce the impact of global and climate change, by equipping young Europeans with the competences to understand and act on climate and environmental challenges. We were driven by the desire to make environmental concepts more accessible and relatable, especially for young people and those working directly with them. We focused on creating interactive, practical tools that would make learning both effective and enjoyable. By using gamification, we found we could better engage our target groups, helping them understand complex environmental issues while also building essential soft skills like teamwork, creativity and critical thinking. The project addressed a real need among youth workers and educators for professional development. In many partner countries, formal training in youth work is limited or inconsistent, so there was a strong demand for high-quality, non-formal learning programs. We are proud that through this initiative, we created quality educational materials that not only supported youth workers in their work but also positioned our organizations as valuable contributors to the broader dialogue on environmental policy and action.
