Through this project, our aim was to enhance teachers' competency in comprehending the learning processes of contemporary elementary school students. This would be achieved through training focused on implementing learning strategies informed by neuroscience findings. Additionally, we sought to boost student motivation in learning subjects such as history, biology, and foreign languages by employing teaching methodologies rooted in neuroscience principles. We firmly believe that grasping the learning patterns of modern generations and embracing innovative teaching approaches are vital steps in overcoming the challenges outlined in our school documents.
Our school, Elementary Experimental School Vladislav Ribnikar, is a public institution dedicated to education and upbringing in alignment with the official Teaching and Learning Programs of the Republic of Serbia. Our primary focus lies in providing foundational education and guidance to students aged 7 to 15. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, it is mandatory for our teachers to undergo professional development to enhance their teaching practices.Teachers assess their professional training needs and subsequently devise plans to address them accordingly.Based on the analysis of the Report on the implementation of the school development plan and self-evaluation for 2020/2021, as well as the School Development Plan for 2021/2022, we have identified that students are facing challenges in mastering school material and are predominantly achieving at basic levels of proficiency. Specifically, students encounter difficulties in subjects such as mathematics, history, biology, foreign languages and Serbian language. Recognizing the need to enhance teachers' understanding of student learning processes, we have selected the Neuroscience: Understanding How Your Students Learn training program by the Europass Teacher Academy.
