Objectives

GENERAL GOAL: to build and develop a community-based learning model that promotes Food Literacy and supports multi-vulnerable adults. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES - to increase the partner organisations' capacities - to support educators in providing inclusive and engaging Food Literacy learning - to enable adults to acquire skills and knowledge in the field of Food Literacy - to share a new learning model and connect with adult education providers who want to improve engagement for greater Food Literacy

Background

Food systems worldwide are under enormous pressure, and the analysis of the topicality of the topic and the needs included a review of the available literature at the world, European and national levels. The conclusions are that there is no systematized approach and offer of concrete and practical training for food literacy and that the available literature is mostly theoretical considerations without concrete educational resources. Numerous studies indicate an increase in the number of people affected by food insecurity. Food insecurity is usually seen as a problem in low-income countries; however, this is a growing challenge in high-income countries as well, where the number of people experiencing this social and health problem is increasing. We have identified 3 pillars that should be incorporated into food literacy initiatives: *reconnecting with the producers who feed us *support local vendors *reduction of waste/waste of food FL4LF combine these 3 pillars into an adult learning model emphasising improving food literacy – understanding the health, environmental, social and economic impact of food choices – which can help make a positive everyday impact and enable consumers to make informed choices.
