Objectives

As the title suggests, we wished to created empowered and fulfilled citizens , to prepare students to participate in different aspects of life, such as social, economical, political, cultural, interpersonal, to teach them to recognise values useful for them to built satisfaction at the level of their personal and social life and the upcoming professional life on the job market, to teach them how to form valid opinions, to teach them social responsibility as valuable members of society, to respect local and global issues, such as democracy, ecology, tolerance, pluralism, and last but not least digital and media literacy. We wanted to emphasise the role of team work, cooperation and emotional self-regulation and well-being, to shape their personality and give them a hand with solving problems, how to compete and be fair in life situations. We wanted the students to make progress in language competences, namely speaking, writing, listening and reading, as well as to enrich their vocabulary and support their longing for learning and searching for information in a foreign language, to find verified sources of information, to boost their imagination and creativity, and reveal talents when it comes to writing or designing stuff.

Background

We wanted to raise awareness of importance of mastering global skills, to create situations where the students can practice these skills, to prepare them for their future life challenges and possible career, to become confident in communication and to encourage active citizenship. On top of that, we wanted to create new friendships, to exchange cultural experience and good practices with the partnership school, which applies not only to students but also to teachers. We believe in the 21st century the students need to be able to think critically, to face the current yet changing world, such as environmental issues. We addressed the need of filling the gap of insufficient knowledge taught at Citizenship and Social Studies in our schools, the gaps in our educational systems and national curricula, namely about the European Union, diversity, democracy and other values. We believe learning languages is essential and that is why we created this project - to create situations where students can be more active in discussion outside the classroom, to provide an opportunity for mobilities, even for students from low socio-economic background.
