Our project addressed two important needs that were visible amongst youth workers actively involved in local solidarity work. The first of these needs was their lack of knowledge of practical but innovative methods that could be used for the benefits of their target groups. The second need was the observed reluctance to use methods based on digital means of communication that stemmed from either lack of knowledge or lack of appreciation of the potential of this kind of tools for youth work. This project sought to address both of the issues mentioned by giving youth workers a chance to go through an intensive training on a method that was practical and could be implemented while working with different kinds of groups and that at the same time was very much based on the assumption that digital competences were crucial for organizing high quality innovative youth projects. The project was designed in accordance with general objectives of the Erasmus+, and met most of the objectives of learning mobilities. Partners outlined the following objectives: - To support the professional development of youth workers and improve the quality of youth work across Europe through innovation. In order to reach this objective we introduced youth workers with digital storytelling methodologies, gave them means to reach young people with their projects and campaigns promoting peace education values. - To facilitate personal development of the participants and their target groups. Participants experienced digital storytelling exercises and expressed their personal stories. Digital storytelling workshops enhanced media literacy, gave people a voice that enabled them to communicate in a new way with mixed media. Participants had a chance to experience these benefits for their own development and learn how to provide similar experience to young people and other youth workers. - To increase the capacities and international dimension of the partners and enable them to offer services that better respond to the needs of their target groups. Digital storytelling activities help people express themselves and can contribute many benefits in organisational setting. Storytelling and digital tools are used world-wide to help communicate brand messages and market products and services. Professional use of digital storytelling helps to present organizations better which might result in more public support for their activities. Participants also brought back to their organizations new ideas and tools that could be used to develop innovative activities and reach new target groups or improve existing programs.
