Through our project, "E-motional", we aimed to develop the resources and competencies of youth workers to create transformational and sustainable learning environments for supporting youth inclusion in social and professional life with a focus on emotional intelligence. We explored techniques for emotional and mental well-being, both for youth workers and for young people. All of our objectives were achieved to a great extent. The participants reported a deeper understanding of the importance of emotional intelligence in their work. They were equipped with practical tools and methods to foster their emotional intelligence and enhance the mental well-being of the youth they work with. The participants also created a strong network, where they continue to share best practices and support each other in the field of emotional intelligence and mental well-being. The specific objectives of our project were: To identify and acknowledge challenges we faced when working with youth. To thoroughly learn and experience the value of self-reflection. To explore participants' backgrounds at an emotional level to increase the understanding of their own emotions. To improve participants' emotional intelligence through improving their self-awareness and emotional self-management. To learn how to empathize with others but also with themselves. To improve participants’ ability for emotional grounding as facilitators with particular emphasis on emotional education activities. To increase the knowledge related to emotional intelligence and professional inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, but also everyone having a hard time processing the current world situation (Covid-19 pandemic, war). To prioritize self-care and emotional wellness and apply these in holistic, creative ways. To increase the motivation of youth workers to actively focus more on mental health when working with youth. To give participants resources and tools to take care of themselves at emotional and physical levels during youth work activities. To equip youth workers with innovative and quality non-formal education methods and tools that foster emotional intelligence, social connection, and inclusion. To provide youth organizations and youth workers with opportunities for cooperation and peer support, fostering quality improvements in European youth work.
