Objectives

The Student Parliament of the University of Constantine the Philosopher (ŠP UKF) has been active for many years and has played a key role in the implementation of many successful events. It has a stable membership base and maintains excellent relations with the management of the University of Konstantin Filozof in Nitra, as well as with the city of Nitra and the Nitra self-governing region, with whom it closely cooperates in the preparation and implementation of its activities. The reason why we decided to develop this project is the extremely important fact that ŠP UKF has long been carrying out a number of activities for students that fill their free time, while they are primarily focused on the fields of culture and sports. However, we are aware that the purpose of establishing the SP was not only to organize these activities, but also to serve as an advisory body for the university management and actively participate in decision-making processes at the University of Constantine the Philosopher (UKF), especially in the field of education, infrastructure and accreditation of new study programs. We found that although the members of the ŠP regularly participate in the meetings of the Academic Senates at individual faculties, there is still a lack of a reliable flow of information from the university management to the students. At the same time, it often happens that students do not know who to turn to when a problem arises or if they have a suggestion to improve the situation. Therefore, it was necessary to raise awareness among students about the role and function of the ŠP, so that they perceive it not only as an organizer of cultural, social and sports events, but also as a voice of students that represents them and participates in the university's decision-making processes. Thanks to the project, we achieved changes in the awareness and participation of students. ŠP UKF actively tried to improve communication with the university management through regular meetings between representatives of the SP and members of the management. These meetings served to inform about current events, plans and decisions. Through the web and social media, important information from the university management was available for students. ŠP UKF tried to strengthen its participation in the university's decision-making bodies, especially in the Academic Senates and the rector's or dean's colleges. In this way, ŠP UKF could learn the first information about the planned changes and this enabled students to represent their interests more effectively. ŠP UKF intensified communication with students through various communication channels, including social media, where they informed about events at the university and the course of decision-making processes. The goal of the project was to increase student participation in decision-making processes at the University of Konstantin Filozof in Nitra. The project focused on the networking of students across faculties, active dialogue between students, the UKF University in Nitra and the university management, increasing awareness of opportunities at the university and in the city, as well as strengthening community life with an emphasis on inclusion. In addition, the goal of the project was to increase the competences of members of the SP, male and female students in the field of informal education, project management and communication. These steps were aimed at creating a more active and informed student community, which is able to effectively participate in the university's decision-making processes and actively contribute to life at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra. The main goal, as well as the specific goals of the project, fully corresponded with the goals of the EU Youth Dialogue in the following points: - to encourage the participation of young people in democratic life, - to include different opinions and ensure openness for young people so that they can contribute to the formation of politics, - to achieve a positive change in youth policy, mainly at the local and regional level, - to strengthen young people's civic competence and sense of belonging to society and the European Union.
