Objectives

We have worked to ensure acceptance and support between special education students and typically developing students. We formed the basis of these efforts by combining innovative and contemporary special education approaches. We mobilised special education teams on the job to increase communication between students and developed their ability to live in harmony. In this process, we increased the competence level of school staff and enabled them to act jointly. We established international collaborations by taking advantage of European educational culture and carried out exemplary work for schools with similar problems. By using Web 2.0 based tools, we organised activities for students in digital environments and integrated the internet into our project. At the same time, we conducted a fully sustainable and successful project by raising environmental awareness among our students. In this way, we have taken important steps to ensure harmony among students, improve social skills and integrate special education students into society. With all these efforts, we aimed to provide students with a better educational environment and maximise their potential.

Background

Our project aims to increase awareness and encourage co-operation between special education and typically developing students. We planned awareness raising activities, peer education and joint activities between the students. Within the scope of the project, we offered students the opportunity to play joint games, spend time together and thus we observed that they developed positive attitudes and behaviours. We enabled special education students to gain self-confidence, achieve success and improve their social skills. At the same time, students with typical development developed a more tolerant and helpful attitude towards special students. The positive results obtained within the scope of the project were shared with foreign partners to gain different perspectives and to work in accordance with the European vision. During the mobility planning, we adopted a web 2.0-based and environmentalist approach and enabled students to work in accordance with the age.
