Objectives

We named our project 'Apeirogon', in reference to Colum Mc Cann's book of the same name about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Inspired by the richness and complexity of this story, as well as by the search for balance and transversality embodied by the polygon with the greatest number of sides, we set out to achieve several key objectives: To offer an audience of young people in a more precarious situation the opportunity to travel and discover the virtues of intercultural experience. We firmly believe that travel can open up new horizons and foster personal development, especially in a land so rich in history and identity issues. Facilitating dialogue between different cultures and ways of life. We wanted to create a space for exchange and sharing where young people could discover and understand the diversity of the world around them. To make young people aware of the power of words and silence in any debate. We wanted to encourage them to think critically about the different forms of communication and the importance of words, but also about the times when silence can be just as significant, particularly in a territory of resistance. Equip young people to manage projects responsibly, autonomously and ethically. We wanted to give participants the skills and knowledge they need to carry out projects responsibly, taking account of ethical and social issues. Raise young people's awareness of international law and the means of resistance and legal levers for action. We felt it was important to inform young people about fundamental rights and the mechanisms for combating injustice, in order to encourage them to become committed and informed citizens. In short, our aim was to create an ethical and responsible project with the young people, a project for them where they could not only discover a land steeped in history and all too coveted, but also reflect together and critically on the social and political issues of the situation of colonization and apartheid in Palestine and the roles to be played by every European citizen.
