In 2018, De Ambrassade organized a big conference for the youth work community in Flanders with the title: #Youthworkworks, An agenda for the future of Youth Work in Flanders. The aim of this conference was to gave (new) language to the value of Youth Work. Why does #Youthworkworks? We formulated the mission of youth work, the DNA of the youth worker and 5 challenges for the future that we want to address. You can read this in: #YOUTHWORKWORKS, today and tomorrow. About youth work’s mission, DNA and challenges. In 2023 we are five years further. Time to re-examine and deepen this mission, DNA and challenges. Time to update our agenda for the future together with youth work across Flanders. In preparation for the second #Youthworkworks conference (Tuesday June 6 2023), we organised different activities to discuss, study & reflect on youth work practices with the title: "ImPACT of youth work". With these goals for the conference: 1 Give language to our ‘impact’ and explain what the “youth work effect” is. 2 Preparing a ‘pact’, because if we still want to achieve strong youth work in the future, we must formulate ambitions within these six important themes: - Voluntary Engagement - Digital ‘life world/en environment’ of children & young people - Mental well-being - Youth infrastructure - The voice of children & young people - Cross-sectorial work With this we achieve: - Strong and quality youth work today and in 5 years - More social appreciation and value for youth work - More youth work for more children & young people More information about preparation towards our conference on: www.jeugdwerkwerkt.be (in Dutch) As part of the preparation we organised 2 study visits to learn more about: • Impact in Youth work in Sweden (international studyvisit) • Youth Infrastructure in Luxembourg (international studyvisit) The exchange to Sweden helped us to learn about impact and showed us a way to make the impact of youthwork visible. The exchange to Luxembourg helped us to formulate a strong ambition about youthinfrastructure. With these realisations we will enlarge the youth work effect and the impact on youthwork in Flanders.
