Objectives

"Our Youth Exchange focused on promoting fair trade and responsible consumerism, aiming to instill sustainable practices in participants' daily lives. We curated a diverse set of activities, tailored to our objectives, and developed additional curriculum content to enrich the experience. Our goal was to empower participants, enhancing their self-esteem and self-awareness. Centered on the themes of fair trade and responsible consumerism, our project aimed to foster European citizenship among young people and their leaders. We prioritized inclusivity, environmental consciousness, and European identity. Specifically, our project addressed two pressing social issues: Climate Change and environmental entrepreneurship. The objectives of our international youth exchange were multifaceted: Promoting Non-Formal Global Education: Through elements of Development Education, Human Rights Education, Sustainability Education, Peace Education, and Intercultural Education, we aimed to raise awareness about global realities. Empowering Young People: Our project sought to empower youth by deepening their understanding of global issues, nurturing critical thinking skills, and encouraging active participation in political discourse, rights advocacy, and sustainable development. Encouraging Responsible Consumption: Emphasizing sustainable and ethical lifestyles, we aimed to cultivate responsible consumption habits among young people, encouraging them to make positive contributions to society and the environment. Spotlighting Fairtrade: We aimed to educate participants about Fairtrade principles, advocating for fair and sustainable trade practices, and promoting ethical consumption habits. Integrating Global Perspectives Locally: By connecting global issues to local contexts, we aimed to broaden young people's perspectives and inspire attitudinal shifts towards global interconnectedness. Fostering Entrepreneurship: Through entrepreneurship education, we equipped young people with the skills and mindset to address global challenges, fostering eco-friendly business ideas that contribute to sustainable development. Promoting Environmental Awareness: Environmental education was a cornerstone, raising awareness about environmental issues and advocating for a healthier planet and quality of life for all. Supporting Youth-led Environmental Projects: We encouraged and supported young people in developing their own initiatives addressing environmental concerns, fostering their active engagement in global problem-solving. In summary, our project encompassed a comprehensive array of educational, awareness-building, and empowerment objectives. With a strong emphasis on global education, responsible consumption, Fairtrade promotion, environmental awareness, and youth entrepreneurship, we aimed to nurture a socially responsible, informed, and engaged younger generation capable of tackling global challenges and contributing to a just and sustainable future." With the implementation of the YE, we tried to keep in maximum impact to these objectives, something that we succeeded with Non Formal environmental themes and the participation of all the participants. 48 youngsters (ages 15 – 20) from 6 organizations and 12 leaders (Cyprus, Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Spain) gathered in a YE and with their own ideas to learn how to get out of the Box and to create their own green projects and to extend them so to get educational keys that have to do with entrepreneurship and critical thinking.
