On sex-related themes, youth can receive a lot of untrustworthy or insufficient information from their parents and peers. It's an issue that needs to be addressed. As the number of sexually active adolescents with STIs (sexually transmitted infections), teenage pregnancies (due to a lack of information about contraception and responsibility), and sexual abuse rises, so does the need for high-quality sexuality education. Sexual behavior and attitudes around sexuality are fast changing as young people get more sexual freedom (European Expert Group). Furthermore, there is a lot of online and media coverage that can influence people's perceptions about sexuality (for example, youth watching pornographic content on the internet). People frequently do not understand their own sexuality, making it difficult to pass on knowledge to future generations. Sexuality education is a lifelong process. It entails physical and mental well-being, sexual health, self- and other-respect, and education regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and relationships. "High-quality sexuality education is founded on globally recognized human rights, namely the right to adequate health-related information" (WHO). For these reasons, sexuality education must be provided (in an appropriate manner) to youth in order to provide them with the necessary knowledge to live a healthy life. A youth consortium from Cyprus, Malta, Romania, Estonia, and Greece will take part in the "Too Cheap to Buy Trojans" youth exchange. Some of these countries place a strong emphasis on sexual education in their school curricula, while others place little or no emphasis on it at all. The project's goal is to improve young people's ability to make informed decisions regarding their sexuality and relationships, as well as their overall well-being and health. This will be accomplished by providing youth with tangible tools and information that will have a beneficial impact on their personal lives as well as the lives of their peers, and so on. The following objectives have been set in order to attain the main goal: 1) exchange knowledge and practices on sexuality education in the participating countries; 2) raise youth awareness about sexually transmitted diseases and the importance of screening for STDs; 3) find implementable ways to incorporate it into the school's curriculum; 4) raise social awareness about the importance of sexuality education; 5) break the taboos and myths surrounding human sexuality. With this initiative, we hope to increase awareness about the relevance of sexual education in relation to a variety of human rights, such as the right to life, the right to be free from torture, the right to privacy, the right to an education, and the prohibition of discrimination.
