Objectives

The central objective of the project was to empower youth workers with a comprehensive understanding of how to assess and modify their daily routines to actively contribute to environmental conservation within the realms of physical activities, sports, and outdoor-based initiatives. Simultaneously, the project aspired to harness these activities as dynamic tools for fostering the active participation and conscientious development of young individuals from vulnerable groups within our society. In pursuit of these overarching goals, the project sought to instill and explore the vital concept of environmental conservation throughout the entire spectrum of youth work with vulnerable groups. This exploration spanned from the preparatory phase before engaging in sports or outdoor activities to the reflective phase afterward. The objective was to cultivate an ethos where environmental awareness became inherent to the fabric of these activities, creating a sustainable and meaningful impact. The initiative further endeavored to foster a collaborative environment where experiences related to environmental issues and working with vulnerable groups were shared. Through this exchange, the project aimed to co-create purposeful work programs that seamlessly integrated environmental conservation concepts into sports and outdoor-based activities. The intention was to not only provide engaging experiences for young individuals but also to instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Beyond this, the project delved into the intricacies of youth work, youth training, and their intersection with environmental concerns, sports, and outdoor-based activities. It was not merely about incorporating environmental elements into these practices but also about elevating the quality of youth work itself. The focus was on organizing youth work that not only promoted mental and physical development but also served as a platform to elevate awareness and propose conservation strategies. Recognizing the importance of shared knowledge, the project encouraged the sharing of diverse approaches to environmental conservation within the context of sports and outdoor activities. This sharing extended to various youth populations, including both regular and vulnerable groups. The objective was to create a repository of effective practices that could be seamlessly integrated into the daily fabric of youth work. In addressing the challenges inherent in implementing environmental conservation and sports methodologies in youth work with vulnerable groups, the project aimed to enhance adaptability and proficiency. It was not just about understanding these challenges but actively seeking solutions that resonated with the specific dynamics of vulnerable youth populations. Furthermore, the project aspired to establish a network of youth trainers and workers who were dedicated to championing environmental conservation through sports and outdoor-based activities. The envisioned community was not just a platform for knowledge exchange but a collective force committed to driving positive change. Finally, the project acknowledged the well-documented benefits of sports participation, particularly in adolescence, on psycho-social health. Leveraging this positive reinforcement, the project sought not only to raise awareness of environmental issues but also to seamlessly integrate simple methods of environmental preservation into the fabric of enjoyable and engaging activities. It was about creating a holistic approach where the well-being of individuals and the health of the environment were intertwined, fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the world we inhabited.
