Objectives

The primary objective of the project was to encourage and empower young people to participate in the law-making process in Cyprus. Recognizing that legislation directly impacts young people aged 15-30, the project aimed to minimize the gap between youth and legislative processes by making law proposals more accessible and engaging. Objectives of the Project: 1. Increase Awareness of Young People in Law-Making Process - Inform at least 1,500 citizens (with at least 700 young people) about their right to access and contribute to legislative discussions. - Raise awareness of how parliamentary processes work, including law proposals, amendments, regulations, and parliamentary committee meetings. 2. Enhance Young People's Understanding of Legislation - Simplify complex legal texts and present them in an engaging and comprehensible way with the help of lawyers and youth workers. - Provide young people with the skills to analyze legislation and formulate well-structured opinions. 3. Encourage Active Participation in Decision-Making - Organize 12 law proposal discussions, each engaging at least 15 young people, to review and debate legal amendments. - Collect, structure, and formally submit young people's opinions to Members of Parliament (MPs) and parliamentary committees. 4. Bring a behavioural change towards Active Citizenship - Equip participants with research, analytical, and communication skills to engage in civic society beyond the project. - Promote Erasmus+ and other EU programs as tools for youth empowerment and democratic engagement. Through these efforts, the project sought to transform young people from passive observers to active contributors in laws formation.
