Objectives

The “Connect for Impact” project was a networking activity for youth workers, which brought together youth workers from various organizations to: 1) Network and form new partnerships. 2) Exchange good practices and inspire one another. 3) Plan new projects and international activities collaboratively. 4) Gain renewed motivation and “drive” for their work on youth projects. 5) Organize a successful virtual networking event. The idea for this project emerged in discussions with several of our partners, as we reflected on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our work. A number of needs were identified, which the project addressed: 1) Strengthening connections: The pandemic limited networking opportunities, and while online meetings helped, they were not as effective in fostering long-term relationships and deep discussions. “Connect for Impact” aimed to allow the participants to reconnect in person and form partnerships. 2) Combating burnout: Many youth workers had experienced burnout due to the challenges of supporting young people during the pandemic while facing isolation themselves. This project aimed to give the participants a chance to re-energize, find fresh inspiration, and rediscover their motivation. 3) Enhancing virtual skills: Another goal was improving our capacity to organize smoother and more efficient virtual activities for young people as well as for virtual work meetings. 4) Sharing good practices: The project also aimed to provide an opportunity for youth workers to exchange tools and methods that help navigate the current challenges. Participants learned from the best practices of others, enriching their approach to youth work in the post-pandemic landscape. The aims of the project were the following: 1) To exchange best practices between various organizations and help the youth workers to find new components and ideas for their own work. 2) To form new partnerships between the participating organizations and develop new project together. 3) To raise the capacity of the organization to deal with the concrete needs of the young people they work with by discussing these needs with the participants and finding solutions to them. 4) To organize a virtual networking event for youth organizations from different countries, involve them in our projects and initiate partnerships with them. 5) To motivate youth workers to remain active in their work, to remain flexible to new challenges and keep discovering new methods and practices. 6) To improve the digital skills of youth workers by introducing them to the Gather.town platform, which offers a free and simple space for organizing very effective and smooth online events. 7) To create a brochure with the good practice examples shared within the project and share it with other youth workers online.
