A Youth Exchange on the topic of global warming, climate change, and environmental pollution was held in Reykjavík, Iceland, for 10 days, with the participation of 30 young people from 3 different countries. The aim of the project was to increase the participants' awareness of environmental issues and exchange knowledge and experience on measures that can be taken to solve the problem in their own communities, cities, and countries. The project was implemented using non-formal education methods to develop the participants' competencies, skills, and responsibilities in society regarding waste management. During the project, the participants learned about the diversity of types of waste, recycling, reducing, and reusing waste, legal norms and regulations in different countries, and how countries are dealing with global warming and pollution. The project discussions focused on ideas on how to protect the environment and keep it clean. Through the project, young people and the population in general were able to overcome their lack of interest in the issue. The main objective of the project was to increase the participants' knowledge about the diversity of types of waste and the methods for its treatment and recycling, to help them think and start helping to deal with the problem of global warming, which is a consequence of human pollution. The sub-objectives of the project were to raise awareness and exchange good practices, know-how, and responsibilities in society regarding the protection of the environment, to raise awareness and exchange good practices and know-how about green behaviors among young people from different countries, to increase the sensitivity of the young generation to air, water, and soil pollution, to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary work through an eco-action for the benefit of society, and to promote intercultural dialogue and tolerance between young people from different backgrounds. The project was successful in achieving its objectives, and the participants expressed satisfaction with the experience and the knowledge gained. The project also resulted in the establishment of new partnerships among the participating organizations, leading to the development of new projects on similar topics.
