Objectives

The main goal of project “Youth for active European citizenship” was to motivate and encourage the young Europeans to become active citizens and empowered members in their local communities, on regional and national level as well as on wider European level. The project idea was born when our team got a non-formal discussion with the young people we are working with and active members of our organization. The young people shared that it will be of great benefit for them and for other young people to initiate a wider international exchange of good practices between youngsters from all around Europe in order to learn and develop competencies in the decision-making processes which are the fundament of becoming an active citizen of its own community. The project consortium was built on the most motivated of our partners and those that expressed the most educational need of such project for their youngsters. It was very important for the project team to ensure that the project will reflect the needs, interests and the possible contribution of our partners and the young people they are working with. Considering the background of the partners and the fact that they work in very different local and national environments the team decided to structure the focus on topics which are attractive and valuable for everyone. The main objectives of the project were as follows: - To open wider discussion on the concepts of citizenship and active participation on local, national and international, European level - To empower, embolden and motivate the young people to become active members of their communities - To acquire the young people with the rights and the responsibilities that they have as citizens of their communities and their countries, as well as them as Europeans - To address and tackle the topic of youth passivity by identifying the roots of this negative phenomena - To come up with ideas on how to activate inactive groups of young people - To learn from best examples around Europe, to be inspired by young people which are actively involved in the decision-making process in their communities - To give to the participants opportunities to develop needed competencies to make their voice loud and to enable them to be more participative in their communities - To produce learning materials for young people and youth workers which will be useful after the project lifetime like booklet, blog and videos. - To acquire the participants with knowledge and skills in the field of the Erasmus + programme and to encourage them to be actively involved in future youth projects
