Objectives

The project "Spiel dich frei!" aimed to achieve several objectives by bringing together young women from Germany, France, and Turkey in an exchange program centered around women's empowerment and sports. This phase of exchange took place between the 8th and 15th of April 2023 in Cottbus and Berlin. It gave the occasion to a group of young women* who play football in Germany, France, and Turkey to meet for the second time, after meeting for the first time in Soma and Izmir in the fall 2022. - Promoting Gender Equality in Sports: One of the primary goals was to challenge gender stereotypes in sports by providing young women with opportunities to share with young women from other countries their engagement in football, a traditionally male-dominated sport. By encouraging participation and showcasing the talent of female athletes, the project aimed to promote gender equality in the realm of sports. - Cultural Exchange and Understanding: Through the exchange program, the project sought to facilitate cultural exchange and foster mutual understanding among participants from diverse backgrounds. By bringing together young women from different countries, the project aimed to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and promote intercultural dialogue and empathy. - Empowering Young Women: The project aimed to empower young women by providing them with a platform to share their experiences, discuss common challenges, and build confidence both on and off the field. By participating in activities focused on women's empowerment, such as workshops and discussions, the project aimed to inspire participants to become leaders and agents of change in their communities. - Language and Communication Skills: Another objective of the project was to improve participants' language and communication skills. By providing opportunities for language learning and intercultural communication, the project aimed to equip participants with valuable skills for engaging with people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Creating Sustainable Partnerships: The project aimed to establish long-term partnerships between organizations in Germany, France, and Turkey, with the goal of continuing to promote cross-cultural exchange and collaboration beyond the initial exchange program. By fostering sustainable partnerships, the project sought to create lasting impact and opportunities for future generations of young women. - Encouraging International Solidarity and Belonging: This exchange being the second phase of encounter between the participants of this project, it reinforced the bond initiated during the first meeting which took place in Turkey in the fall 2022. The motivation all participants had to see each other again fostered a sense of belonging to a European and international feminist community among participants. By breaking down stereotypes and prejudices through intercultural exchange and non-formal education methods, the project sought to make participants understand and value diversity and differences. Through shared experiences and collaborative activities, the project aimed to cultivate a sense of solidarity among participants, encouraging them to support each other and address common challenges across borders. By fostering connections and solidarity among young women from different countries, the project aimed to contribute to the development of a more united and inclusive European and international community, grounded in principles of equality, mutual respect, and solidarity. Overall, the project aimed to create a supportive and inclusive environment where young women could come together, learn from each other, and contribute to positive social change through the power of sports and cultural exchange.
