The inception of this project was inspired by the successful implementation of two prior youth exchanges, 'Celebrate Diversity: Fight Othering' and 'You.Art.Diversity,' which effectively engaged youth from different backgrounds, encompassing a diverse array of experiences. Following the conclusion of the last project, several participants expressed a strong desire to create another youth exchange that would involve even more young people from various backgrounds. In our pursuit of inclusivity, we placed significant emphasis on addressing the language barrier issue. It's often underestimated how challenging it can be for a young person lacking fluency in English and international experience to take that initial step. Recognizing the predicament of less confident peers who remained on the sidelines due to language barriers, we aimed to create a secure space for them. To make their participation possible and comfortable, we planned to employ non-verbal communication, theater, and body movement. Promoting Diversity Acceptance: Fundamental to peaceful coexistence is the acceptance of diversity, and thus, the core idea of this project was to bring together youth from different backgrounds, each with a unique perspective and life journey. We sought to provide them with a platform to engage in discussions about diversity, share their thoughts, and express their experiences through non-verbal and creative means, including theater and body movement. The project's primary objective was to offer youth from various backgrounds an opportunity to meet their peers from various corners of Europe, jointly explore, break language barriers, and learn about diversity through innovative methods. We firmly believed that this experience represented the most effective way to prevent the radicalization of young people – by allowing them to experience diversity, learn from each other, and, in the process, empower them to stand against discrimination and racism. This project aimed to encourage participants to work collectively towards the acceptance of cultural differences, recognizing them as a crucial component of our society. Objectives: Considering the context described above, the project's main goals were to: - create a safe for young people from rural and urban areas to learn from each other and explore - help them to overcome the language barrier and take the first step into the new environment; - encourage them to be active citizens of their society; - promote the importance of diversity using non-verbal and creative methods such as forum/impro theatre, street art, pantomime, etc.; - work towards preventing radicalization of socially vulnerable young people - let the participants feel more confident in their everyday lives; and - promote European values based on individual freedom, tolerance, and respect for human rights.
