Objectives

Our "ENTER OUT - Outdoor Education & Transformative Learning through the Prism of Environmental Sustainability" project aimed to tackle the persistent problem of social exclusion, which has a disproportionate impact on young people and marginalized groups. The project was a seven-day training course designed for professionals such as youth and social workers, facilitators, trainers, and those working with youth facing fewer opportunities. The project had several objectives. 1. We aimed to expose the participants to a range of outdoor activities and experiential learning opportunities. This would help them understand the various perspectives, principles, and models associated with these educational approaches. 2. We wanted to foster a collaborative environment where participants could share their experiences and develop essential skills in outdoor education, experiential learning, and environmental sustainability. 3. We intended to cultivate the participants' abilities for reflection, critical thinking, innovation, and creativity, especially in challenging outdoor learning contexts, and help them apply these skills effectively. 4. To reconnect education with nature and align modern education approaches with principles of environmental sustainability. 5. We aimed to develop the participants' competencies in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating outdoor and experiential learning activities. 6. We sought to raise awareness about environmental sustainability issues through outdoor education. 7. The project aimed to develop new educational tools and learning methods focused on developing behavioral and social competencies, fostering social inclusion and environmental sustainability. 8. We aimed to develop methods for empowering individuals with diverse needs. The project aimed to train youth workers in using outdoor education to address contemporary challenges in youth work, such as social exclusion, conflicts, and frustration among young people facing fewer opportunities. We also aimed to explore the potential of outdoor environments in addressing topics such as environmental sustainability, conflict transformation, and the promotion of diversity and respect for nature, while presenting practical methods for transformative learning and promoting ecological sustainability through outdoor education. The project's objectives and goals were closely linked to addressing the broader issue of social exclusion driven by various factors. The project was a step towards mitigating these challenges and fostering a more inclusive society.
