Partners aimed to bridge the growing coder demand globally, 500,000 in Europe, by encouraging young students to include coding in their career planning. Our objectives included providing the business sector with potential human resources in high demand, guiding youth toward a career path, and raising awareness about the career possibilities in coding. Partners fostered a sustainable community by offering training, guidance, and networking opportunities, ensuring longevity beyond initial funding through online platforms and community engagement. Code4Future aligns with KA210 priorities by reinforcing digital transformation, promoting inclusion for underserved students in Germany and Turkey, and enhancing youth employability. To sustain digital education efforts, partners measured impact through concrete outputs like multilingual websites, training videos, and digital resources. Career days and networking events broadened horizons, while online guidance and solidarity channels empowered youth to make informed career choices, ultimately fostering growth in entrepreneurship opportunities within the tech sector.
The Code4Future was initiated to tackle Europe's pressing coder shortage, with 500,000 developers missing from the labor market (Eurostat, 2023). Xient, L4Y, and SDGAL recognise the demand for digital transformation and the lack of skilled IT professionals, particularly coders. Despite extensive training efforts, the supply of competent developers remains insufficient for industry giants like Siemens and Bosch, creating a recruitment challenge (European Commission, 2023). The project aims to bridge this skills gap by offering students a viable career path in coding, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial spirit. In partnership with Cologne's and Adana's educational authorities and schools, Code4Future will embed essential digital skills into the curriculum, guiding students through pivotal career-decision phases. Our initiative aligns with Erasmus+ KA210 priorities, focusing on youth inclusion and digital upskilling through non-formal learning. Post-funding, we plan to sustain outcomes by developing a self-governing coding community that connects youth with IT organisations and fosters continuous engagement and skills development.
