Objectives

The main objective of the project “An Inclusive, Green Recovery is Possible” was to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capacities of youth workers, volunteers, and marginalized groups (e.g. migrants, refugees, asylum seekers) in the field of environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources. In line with the Erasmus+ priority on climate action, the project organized four practical trainings to enhance eco-literacy. It also facilitated the exchange of national best practices and developed two key educational tools: IO1, a methodological manual for environmental education targeting marginalized communities; and IO2, a waste management guide based on non-formal education, including public awareness strategies. Through strong transnational cooperation between partners in Germany, Italy, North Macedonia, and Türkiye, the project ensured long-term educational value and promoted inclusive green practices across the EU.

Background

The project “AIGRIP” was initiated to strengthen the competencies, skills, and knowledge of youth workers, organizational staff, volunteers, and especially individuals from marginalized backgrounds – including migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants – in the field of environmental protection. The aim was not only to provide environmental education but also to promote eco-literacy among these target groups. The project responded to a clear need for accessible and innovative content that enables marginalized communities to engage with and adapt to green practices and processes. The core needs addressed by the project included: - Enhancing the environmental competencies and eco-literacy of youth workers and participants from marginalized communities; - Developing effective and inclusive educational tools focused on sustainability and climate action; -Exchanging national best practices related to environmental protection from four EU countries; -Strengthening cooperation between organizations through the sharing of personal experiences and green approaches. The project laid the groundwork for sustainable educational tools and practices that will continue to benefit youth organizations across the EU beyond the project’s life
