Objectives

Since its establishment and receipt of initial funding, the Copenhagen Youth Network has dedicated its work to human rights and promoting tolerance. In 2018, we developed our action plan and, in accordance with our organizational theory of change, we organize at least one project focused on this topic every year. The "Better Together - from Local to Global" project enabled us to collaborate once again with our long-term, trusted partner organizations and also join forces with new partners. The project aimed to foster cultural awareness and understanding among young people in an increasingly inter-connected world. It sought to equip them with the necessary tools to navigate diverse cultural contexts, promote tolerance, and contribute to a more inclusive society. Specific objectives included challenging stereotypes and prejudices, enhancing intercultural communication and competence, promoting human rights education, raising awareness of hate speech and its negative impact, fostering personal growth and self-reflection, increasing understanding of migration and refugee issues, and promoting the Erasmus+ program. In more detail: • Participants were guided to improve their communication skills and collaborate effectively within diverse, multicultural teams. • The project highlighted the crucial role of human rights in promoting social justice and inclusion. • Participants learned how to recognize and challenge harmful language that leads to discrimination. • It also offered a space for participants to reflect on their own values, beliefs, and possible biases. • They gained a deeper understanding of the difficulties faced by migrants and refugees, as a marginalized group of people. • Additionally, the project sought to increase awareness of the opportunities and advantages available through the Erasmus+ program.
