Objectives

The main objective of the project was to combat obesity and physical inactivity by promoting healthy lifestyle and sports activities among young people. This was achieved through a shared methodology, presented in a guide, enabling NGOs and youth workers to exchange best practices in activities, research, and methods. The project aimed to create tangible behavioral changes by reducing fast food consumption, increasing awareness of healthy eating, and encouraging at least one hour of daily physical activity. Additionally, it fostered knowledge-sharing and collaboration among European NGOs and youth workers for a broader impact. A report on physical inactivity and obesity trends in Europe, particularly in partner countries, was developed. The methodology was tested through local activities, allowing young participants to experience the impact of lifestyle changes firsthand. By introducing a structured methodology, we enhanced the quality and recognition of youth work across Europe. Finally, we raised awareness of healthy living and encouraged young people to adopt healthier eating and exercise habits.

Background

With this project we wanted to combat obesity and sedentary lifestyles among youth by promoting healthy living and physical activity. Our goal was to develop a shared methodology in guide, enabling NGOs and youth workers to exchange best practices and implement effective strategies. The project fostered lasting behavioral change by strengthening collaboration among European NGOs and tackling discrimination. It encouraged young people, regardless of appearance, to engage in open discussions and shared experiences, increasing awareness of health challenges across countries. We conducted research on obesity and physical inactivity trends in our own local community and used these insights to develop and test our methodology through local youth activities, allowing participants to experience the benefits of a healthier lifestyle firsthand. The project promoted social inclusion and non-discrimination, integrating education, training, and sports activities, while enhancing the quality of youth work in Europe.
